JOURNAL ENTRY

It started with watching a new anime and ended with a plan to have our biggest year yet.

PROJECT 1.2025 // THE CONCEPT

MOOD BOARD

Alien Sumo from Anime series

Dan Da Dan, inspired by the Flatwoods Monster.

Minimalist Japanese layout referenced for Sankaku-Jime tee back patch composition.

Triangle choke artwork by unknown artist.

Chiyonofuji Mitsugu performing the ring-entering ritual.

Dan Da Dan / episode 2 - Alien Sumo with fight scene against Ken Takakura (Okarun) and Momo Ayase.

Highlights of Enhō Yūya - our favourite Sumo wrestler.

SKETCHES &  MOCK UPS

For this stage, we aimed to limit ourselves to a week to execute sketches and mock ups. This is because it's usually this stage we take the longest with and unnecessarily complicate things. We successfully executed our sketches and mock ups in a week and moved on to the production phase of PROJECT 1.2025.

SKETCH PAD

Alex's initial sketches for the Enhō Yūya Sumo design in a traditional sketch book with a brush pen.

Alex's rough sketch for the Sankaku-Jime design in Procreate via iPad.

SEWING TABLE

Jaz sewing initial mock ups of packaging designs.

Jaz's initial mock ups for the tee wrap and poster dust sleeve before pressing with branding.

PRODUCTION

Production is always filled with challenges and lessons to be learned. It's difficult to predict what may go wrong, the best thing to do is to go with the flow and learn as you go. Producing consistency across projects is our aim, while difficult, we place a high focus on nailing our processes and procedures to produce quality goods.

HEAT PRESS

Alex finalising the artwork location on the garment before pressing.

Ensuring the transfer is placed in the correct spot so it wears well.

PACKAGING

Each t-shirt is wrapped in a furoshiki cloth. We want you to enjoy the un-wrapping experience.

FINAL PRODUCT

The process of going from sketch to final product and every step in between is a process you need to trust. We often start with initial concepts that we think will be our final product, only to go back to the drawing board to further refine and develop our ideas. It can, at times, be a frustrating process, but ultimately, seeing the final products come together always makes us appreciate the process. As the saying goes "enjoy the journey, not the destination."

SANKAKU JIME

<image coming> Perfect wall art for your home office, lounge or man cave.

Available in A3 and A2.

We wanted the Sankaku Jime tee to feel like a classic poster on a t-shirt.

ENHO YUYA

Print of Enho Yuya artwork - This striking artwork is sure to capture attention.

Available in 350mm (w) x 800mm (h).

We used the shape from one of our previous designs - Kabuki Kamon - for the Enho Yuya tee.
