ABOUT THE PROJECT

Jess Smith from Nakama BJJ wanted a winter collection that felt like an extension of the club—not another logo printed onto blank garments. We licensed our High Elbow Guillotine artwork and built a collection around it using premium AS Colour garments, custom colourways, considered garment selection and finished merchandise production.

THE ARTWORK

High Elbow Guillotine formed the foundation of the collection: bold, technical and immediately recognisable to grapplers. The Nakama identity was integrated directly into the composition, creating club merchandise rather than artwork with a logo added afterwards.

GARMENT SELECTION

The collection was built using the AS Colour Box Tee and Box Hood. Their wider fit, shorter body and drop shoulders gave the collection a contemporary streetwear silhouette while remaining practical for everyday wear.

COLOURWAYS

Black and Mushroom were selected as the collection colourways, with an Ecru print on the black garments and a Walnut print on the Mushroom garments. The artwork was adapted for each colour to create a softer, more considered contrast that allows the illustration to stand out without overpowering the garment.
